In the central part of Sakhalin there is Cape Jonquière which is famous for its rocks called the Three Brothers located right opposite Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinski.

These are three rock similar in shape but different in size, like brothers of different ages. Together the cape and the rocks form a unique geological monument. As for architectural sights of the area, which is rather rare for Sakhalin, we can mention a lighthouse built in 1897, and a tunnel cut in the rocky ground by convicts who used to work here. To the north of Cape Jonquière archaeologists find fossils about 100 million years old. Shells of extinct ammonid mollusks are especially valuable findings here.
